MELBOURNE ZOO
Melbourne Zoo has been open since 1862 and is considered as the oldest zoo in Australia. Housing around 450 species of animals it is a must to see on a visit to Melbourne.
Featured exhibits are elephants, tigers, orangutans, pygmy hippopotamus and lions.
Great attention has been paid to recreate an Afican an Asian Rainforest and there is a special warm aviary section housing birds and butterflies.
A must to see is the Orangutan Sanctuary which has been designed to replicate the tree-top living Orangutan's are used to in their natural habitat.
The sanctuary is actually an elevated treetop boardwalk which gives visitors the opportunity to get as close as possible to these amazing animals and watch them playing , climbing and juat going about their day to day routine.

THE WERRIBEE OPEN RANGE ZOO
Thirty minutes from Melbourne one can find the Werribee Open Range Zoo a truely unique Wildlife Park in Australia.
Werribbee Open Range Zoo is located on over 250 hectares of river floodplains and volcanic grasslands,
every effort had been made that the animals can live as close to their natural conditions as possible.
Animals from Australia, Africa and Asia can be found wandering around.
Tours are regularly conducted by trained safari guides who give a personal and informed explanation of the animals and what makes each one unique.
There is an Africa style Walking Trail allows visitors to come face to face with a range of smaller African species, including Cheetah, Serval Cats, Vervet Monkeys and Waterbuck.
The Volcanic Plains Walk takes visitors on a journey into Victoria's endangered indigenous grasslands via a walking trail through an accurately recreated landscape with views of native animals along the way, including kangaroos, wallabies and emus.

HEALESVILLE SANCTUARY
Birds of Prey:Don’t miss the amazing Birds of Prey Presentation every day at noon and 2.30pm.
It is a free-flying display featuring raptors such as kites, owls and falcons and Australia’s largest – the Wedge-tailed Eagle.
Healesville Sanctuary is opposite the driveway from Sanctuary Park Cottages and entry is within walking distance(3.5km).
The Sanctuary is world renowned, and provides up-close access to more than 200 species of Australian wildlife in a natural bush environment.

THE MELBOURNE AQUARIUM
Melbourne Aquarium is the newest and most state-of-the-art aquarium in Australia.
Not to be missed is the 360 degree Oceanarium which houses giant sharks and stingrays – witness the incredible live feeding presentations held twice each day.
